Known for his interest in the Underground Railroad and modern Civil Rights Movements\, he is a celebrated song leader and advocate for social change. His music blends acoustic folk\, African American Spirituals\, gospel and social justice activism. Harris is the winner of the 2021 Spirts of Folk award from Folk Alliance International and the W.E.B. Dubois Legacy Award. He has been affiliated with the John F. Kennedy Center’s Partner’s in Education program for over two decades.
