John H. Thompson Research Library and Archives

The John H. Thompson Library is a research library providing access to publications and historic materials that document nearly 300 years of Torrington’s history. Archival collections include maps, papers, and photographs pertaining to Torrington residents, businesses, homes, events, institutions, and organizations. Also of interest are large corporate collections of former Torrington industries, extensive holdings of blueprints and architectural drawings, and The Torrington Register index to newspaper articles (ca. 1900-1983).

Researchers interested in birth, marriage, and death records as well as property records should contact Torrington City Hall.
