Jazz In the Garden, Summer Concert Series with Kris Jensen's Jazz Allstars with vocalist Linda Ransom Saturday August 10th 6:30 p.m.

Torrington Historical Society’s popular Jazz in the Garden series welcomes the Kris Jensen Jazz All Stars, featuring renowned saxophonist Kris Jensen and vocalist Linda Ransom with Doug Schlink on piano, Morris Trent on Bass and Jocelyn Pleasant on drums. The Jazz All Stars will present an evening of music drawing on the great American Songbook ranging from swing standards to blues, soul and pop classics.

Band Leader Kris Jensen resides in Torrington. He was a semi-finalist in the 1996 prestigious Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition. He studied Jazz and African-American music at the University of Hartford, where he would later teach under the auspices of jazz saxophone legend Jackie McLean.

Vocalist Linda Ransom has a voice and style beyond compare. Originally from New London and currently residing in Hartford, she has been singing with some of the finest musicians in CT for decades. Linda’s vocal ability compares with many of the well-known jazz greats such as Nancy Wilson and Sarah Vaughn.

Please bring your lawn chairs, blanket and refreshments and enjoy a great night of music! In case of inclement weather, please check our website the day of the program for updates on location.

The event is sponsored by Torrington Savings Bank.
